Now that summer is upon us you may have recently struck up the desire to explore the English countryside in all its beauty. Well, thanks to our recent collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum and the release of a new John Constable iPad App you needn’t look any further as you can now explore the scenery from Suffolk to Hampstead through the eye of John Constable and his famous oil sketches and landscapes.
Thanks to the wonderful collection of the V&A, you can now flip through each of the works from the John Constable Collection and use the zoom feature to get even closer to some of the pictures that defined the perception of the English countryside for so many people.
The App also features descriptions of the works to provide a deeper understanding of each piece, and how Constable’s works eventually went on to influence the Barbizon School and the French Romantic movement.
Our new App accompanies a new international touring exhibition of the John Constable collection which will bring the artist’s work to a wider audience in Europe and the United States. For those not lucky enough to make these viewings, the App is now available for purchase from the iTunes store and the entire collection is also available to view on the Artfinder site.
