Our friends at The Next Web have just featured our latest experiment, where you can win an iPad2!
Being able to search and browse art using tags is fantastic, you can get from A to B via XYZ in a nice, organic route. It’d be even more amazing to be able to create collections of all the art featuring horses/kittens/trees, with one click.
The problem is most art is not categorised at all, or categorised extremely precisely and uniquely. Somewhere in between, based on a simple scheme would be ideal, so we thought we’d try something new.
We’re pleased to open the doors to Carataggio, our crowd sourced tagging system. We’ve tried to make it less of a chore and have integrated it with Facebook so you can compete against your friends to tag images.
How to use
Each round contains 21 images, picked at random from the hundreds of thousands in the Artfinder system. We have a number of boxes, each labelled with a theme or subject. You can place each of the pictures into one of the boxes.
There are no wrong answers, so if an image could match more than one category, just put it one box, that’s ok. If you can’t see the image very well, hold it under the magnifying glass to get a better look.
We’re running Carataggio as a beta test for a while, learning how well it works and hoping to improve it, so apologies if it doesn’t work as planned. Any comments left here about your experiences would be very helpful, or user our feedback forum on Uservoice.
Invite your friends – it’s better with friends.
